Lesa Maher worked as a legal secretary for over twenty years before fulfilling her goal of becoming an investigator for the Public Defenders Community Law Office. As a secretary she worked for the Juvenile Division and Criminal Court staff attorneys. She became an investigator in 2007 and is a member of the National Defender Investigator Association.

Gary Parker was an officer for the Knox County Sheriff’s Department for sixteen years before joining the Public Defender's Office as an investigator in 1990. Mr. Parker earned an Associate Degree in Police Science and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Tusculum College. He is a member of the National Defender Investigator Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Kerbela Shrine Temple.

Randy Sims joined the Public Defender's Office in July 1992, after 10 years as a bondsman. He recently retired from the US Army at the rank of first sergeant. He has been a member of the National Defender Investigator Association since 1997.

Mike Stone joined the Public Defender's Office in 1992 as an investigator. He belongs to the National Defender Investigator Association, and participated in the investigative phase of the Partners in Law Program.
